ABOUT US
About me and my therapy
My name is Kisei Masayama, I am the owner and head practitioner of Masayama Osteopathy & Acupuncture Clinic. I acquired my national qualifications for acupuncture, moxibustion, and osteopathy 34 years ago and opened my clinic after serving four years as a clinical practitioner in a local hospital. Since then, I have treated tens of thousands of patients with variable conditions ranging from migraines to serious medical disorders.
The most commonly encountered diseases (pathological conditions) are conditions related to movement disorders: lumbar hernia; misalignment of the spine; and autonomic nervous system imbalances. These conditions cause symptoms ranging from stiffness and aches in the neck, back and shoulders, to numbness in the limbs and all-round poor physical conditions, such as abrupt sweating, palpitations, dizziness, fatigue, and insomnia.
My treatment approach is to first understand the patient`s body as a single microcosm and then to restore the balance of the body as a whole while seeking the cause of each symptom. For example, at first, the symptom was only pain around the waist due to a slight displacement of the pelvis, but as time went by it progressed to the distortion of the entire spine and led to new symptoms such as pain and stiffness in the back, neck and shoulders. This condition can also result in limb numbness or headache. In such cases I usually suggest the following treatments:
Therapist Masayama
(1) Correct the imbalance of the paraspinal muscle group by acupuncture.
(2) Ease further the abnormal muscle tension by gentle finger-pressure therapy.
(3) At last, correcting the spine and the other problematic areas with osteopathic care is recommended.
Diagnosis and treatment combine both oriental and modern medical practices resulting in a precise treatment regimen for the patient.
Please note: diagnosis and consultation are not considered as treatment. All fees, including diagnosis and consultation, are included in the treatment course.
About Masayama Osteopathy & Acupuncture Clinic
Masayama Osteopathy & Acupuncture Clinic
The Masayama Osteopathy & Acupuncture Clinic is located in the quiet residential area called “Ichijōji”, in the northeastern part of Kyoto. There are many historical sites and sightseeing spots in the surrounding area and many tourists visit here throughout the year. Facing north, you can see Mount Hiei and several temples such as Sekizan Zen-in Temple, Manshu-in Temple, Shugaku-in Imperial Villa, Shisen-dō Temple, Tanukidani Fudo-in Temple or Konpuku-ji Temple. Ichijōji is also the home of several universities and the renowned Ramen Street. Ramen is a very popular dish among Japanese, especially students on a limited budget. At any of the numerous ramen restaurants lining this avenue, you can rub shoulders (no pun intended) with some of Japan's future trendsetters. Ichijōji Ramen Street is where Masayama Osteopathy & Acupuncture Clinic can be found.
I opened my clinic in December, 1987, and celebrated the 30th anniversary in 2018. Until the end of 2017, osteopathic treatments were covered by the national health insurance but, after the government introduced new rules, I was concerned I could not continue treatments in the manner I found best for my patients. Accordingly, I decided to have a fresh start as a private osteopathy and acupuncture clinic in 2018.
In my private clinic, I carefully tailor and administer each treatment for you. You will experience the highest level of patient-centered medical care; and unlike the assembly-line treatments administered in many clinics covered by national health insurance, you will be treated with tender loving care.
My mission in the Masayama Osteopathy & Acupuncture Clinic is to provide patients a relaxed environment where they can focus on healing, whether they are in the waiting room or treatment room so I personally keep all rooms immaculately clean.
During the treatment, I always provide natural healing music displayed on a 37-inch liquid crystal device to help you ease the stress and enjoy the treatment as much as possible.
